The Minimum Viable Product (MVP) of the ImpactaClima system was the main focus of the researchers from the Earth System Science Center of the National Institute for Space Research (CCST / INPE) and representatives of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC) who participated in the technical meeting at the Joint Research Center (JRC) in Ispra, Italy, between November 12th and 13th. On the occasion, climate change-related issues were also discussed, with the goal of identifying areas of mutual interest and potential future collaborations.
ImpactaClima (formerly SISMOI), the Brazilian System for Monitoring the Impact of Climate Change, is a platform used to monitor and observe the impacts of climate change in the Brazilian semi-arid region.
In addition to Andréa Nascimento de Araújo, coordinator of the General Climate Coordination of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), other participants in the meeting were Jean Ometto (head of CCST / INPE), Pedro Ribeiro de Andrade Neto, and Gustavo Felipe Balue Arcoverde, both from CCST / INPE. The mission was sponsored by the European Union - Brazil Dialogues Support Facility.
The great synergy between ImpactaClima and different JRC research groups has led researchers from both institutions to start working on a joint project to be submitted soon. A clear opportunity for collaboration lies in co-designing the best structure for multidimensional and hierarchical indicators of the impacts of climate change. There is also space for sharing experience in communication practices and web platforms related to hierarchical and composite indicators.
