Claudia Gintersdorfer, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Brazil, described the partnership between Brazil and the European bloc as strategic for both parties during the opening of the Seminar on Advanced Industry in Brazil, held on Tuesday (30), with the support of the EU - Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility at the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (MCTIC).
According to her, since 2007, more than 50 million euros have been invested in joint research and innovation projects, involving more than 200 organizations from Brazil and the EU. The main areas of cooperation are communication, health and energy. The focus now is to extend this partnership to advanced manufacturing initiatives.
"Digital transformation in concepts like the industry 4.0 and advanced manufacturing is much more than just a technological mutation. The Fourth Industrial Revolution has a deep impact on the daily routine of companies and citizens. For this reason, it is essential to develop public policies that translate this transformation into greater competitiveness for companies, creation of jobs and, overall, into better social and economic development prospects for the nations. And we hope to thrive in this area along with Brazil", she said.
During the event, European experiences in advanced industry were presented. In addition, MCTIC launched, in partnership with the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service (SENAI), a tool that will provide a survey on the current advanced manufacturing projects in operation in the country. The information collected by the Brazilian Initiatives Mapping Platform will support the actions to implement the Action Plan on Science, Technology and Innovation for Advanced Manufacturing (ProFuturo).
"We want to map existing initiatives in the country, see what is out there, analyse what is being done, identify the gaps and focus on them to put ProFuturo into practice. Moreover, we must encourage existing initiatives to continue moving forward", explained Marcelo Prim, executive manager of Technology and Innovation at SENAI.
ProFuturo is built upon the combination of two elements: theme, which encompasses priorities in the areas of technologies and human resources, production chains, infrastructure and regulation; and structure, which relates these five topics to the role played by the innovation tripod, made up by the government, academia and companies. According to the secretary of Technological Development and Innovation of MCTIC, Maximiliano Martinhão, the intensive use of science, technology and innovation is crucial to ensure the insertion of national companies in the industry 4.0 ecosystem.
"The integration of digital technologies into the production process completely changes the paradigm of the industrial processes of our time. ProFuturo aims to accelerate this transformation and, with this platform, we will be in an even better position to facilitate this movement", he stressed.
