According to him, we are facing some uncertainties regarding the consequences of the application of these new technologies in the coming decades. "These issues may not find immediate answers in the dialogues between the European Union and Brazil this week, but we have to go through this moment of transformation with our eyes open," he said.
Organised by the European Union and the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC), with the support of the Sector Dialogues, the event discusses the challenges regarding Innovation and Digital Transformation.
According to Minister Gilberto Kassab, from MCTIC, the area of information technology and communication in Brazil has undergone important transformations in the last decades. Kassab said that the reason for Brazil's development in this sector is due to the permanent contact with the most modern in the world. He thanked the cooperation of Brazil and the European Union, revealing that "events like this are fundamental for the exchange of knowledge and the development of projects in technology, innovation and communication."
The Secretary for Technological Development and Innovation of MCTIC, Alvaro Prata, said that ICT Week addresses current and relevant issues that put Brazil on the international stage, such as the Internet of Things, digital innovation and advanced manufacturing.
According to the president of Telebras, Maximiliano Martinhão, the event is a moment of reflection on emerging issues and to share knowledge among Brazilian and European specialists from Scientific and Technological Research Institutions (ICT). He mentioned some results already achieved through Sector Dialogues among countries, such as the discussion on the construction of a submarine cable between Brazil and Europe.
The Director of Scientific and Technological Issues of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and Ambassador Benedicto Fonseca, highlighted the importance of cooperation between the European Union and Brazil in the area of information technology.
