A group of experts from MCTIC (Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations, and Communications) and MDIC (Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services) will be attendingattended a technical mission in Europe until 27 Juneyesterday (27) to learn about successful initiatives and experiences in advanced manufacturing and to attend bilateral meetings to discuss relevant actions and programs already implemented within the European Union.
The topic “advanced manufacturing,” also called Industry 4.0 by the Germans, refers to the 4th Fourth Industrial Revolution, which involves remote integration and control of production, from networked sensors and equipment (automation systems associated with cyberphysical systems). It is the future of manufacturing, in an effort to revamp industrial companies and strive for technological leadership and, as a result, global markets, which are increasingly competitive.
The technical mission is part of the #EU - #Brazil #SectorDialogues Support Facility, and will covered Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, Porto, and Lisbon. Highlights of planned activities included meetings with the European Factories of the Future Research Association (EFFRA) and DG CONNECT in Brussels, and with the FIWARE Foundation and the Industry Competence Centre 4.0 in Berlin.
According to Adriana Anunciatto Depieri, from MCTIC's Technical Services and Innovation Management Division, there are a number of potential bilateral initiatives of interest to Brazil and the EU that can help industrial nations transition to the 4th Fourth Industrial Revolution. “We want to foster exchange of best practice on the development and implementation of public policies, primarily regarding the global trends in connecting the industrial sector to the service sector,” he says.
The purpose of these technical visits and meetings is to further the dialogues and exchanges between the Brazilian delegation and European partners in the implementation of advanced manufacturing policies and programmes. Back in Brazil, the specialists intend to feed the inputs collected during the trip into the implementation of the CT&I Plan for Advanced Manufacturing in Brazil.
“Given our current environment, it is crucial that government actions be implemented quickly and effectively, which requires firmness to choose technologies and supply chains to be prioritised by the government since it is not possible to cover all sectors," said Adriana.
In the long run, partnerships may be set up for projects to be developed among the institutions involved in this dialogue, with a focus on the integration of micro and small enterprises in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.
“By working together, you can find new and better ways to solve global challenges and meet the requirements of bilateral strategic domains that could be supported by the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility," says Adriana.
