Project Overview:
The action consists in the exchange of knowledge and experiences between Brazil and European agencies specialised in the regulation of pesticides and biocides, with an emphasis on institutional arrangements and control mechanisms for managing these products. Studies will be conducted to learn about the legal framework, public policies and instruments adopted by the European Union and Member States for the management of pesticides and biocides, and which can provide a reference for the improvement of the instruments used in Brazil. The expected result of this action is to help identify opportunities for improvements in the national tools for risk management and control of pesticides and biocides, broadening the debate and building consensus on the challenges for the ongoing improvement of chemicals management in Brazil. In order to consolidate the exchange of experiences and establish channels of communication between institutions, a mission of Brazilian representatives to European institutions dealing with the subject will be held subsequently. Finally, the information obtained from the studies will be presented at a seminar to be hosted in Brazil, consolidating the exchange of experiences among experts, civil society and representatives of the Brazilian government and the European Union.
