The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a methodology for analysing the environmental impact of goods and services. It assists the development of public policies aimed at sustainable production and consumption. In Brazil, the LCA is coordinated by the Brazilian Institute for Information in Science and Technology (Ibict). This action aims at the exchange of experiences between Brazil and the European Union that will enable the technical enhancement of LCA. The dialogue will allow the standardisation of information pertaining to inventory processes and services. The action includes a study on the state of the art of LCA in Europe, a survey of techniques and methods for development, storage, and dissemination of inventories and the identification of barriers and solutions for national and international data integration as well as two international missions: one from Brazil to the EU and another from the EU to Brazil. At the end of the study, a workshop will be held in Brazil to present its findings.
