Project Overview:

This action aims to facilitate the exchange of information on animal welfare between Europe and Brazil, in order to inform the discussion of proposed legislation on national road transport. The action provides for a survey of information relating to the transport of farm animals, as well as to legislation and institutional organisation. The data will provide input for a mission of Brazilian technicians which will identify best practices in inspection and governance in the supervision of road transport of animals in Europe. This action is expected to produce a report relating to road transport of livestock in Europe, which will inform the reflection that has taken place in Brazil regarding legislation and supervision in this sector. Finally, an event organised will be held in Brasilia to present the findings of the project, which aims to sensitise the industry to the importance of regulating transport for the welfare of animals.
